New Delhi: Minister of Transportation Jalan Union Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday urged car manufacturers to provide six airbags including for rear seat passengers, in all variants regardless of fees and classes.
He also asked the manufacturer to launch a flexible fuel vehicle that could run on ethanol 100% and gasoline in the next year.
The source said the minister made observations about the six airbags at a meeting with the CEO of the car manufacturer association, Siam, after asking MD and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Kenichi Ayukawa how many airbags provided in all cars in all cars in Japan.
Ayukawa’s answer is six airbags.
At present, only two airbags are mandatory for drivers and passengers in front seats in India in all models including the most economical.
There was no research in India as far as many people in the back seat in the car was killed on Jalan Crash.
Airbags reduce the possibility of your upper body or your head will attack the vehicle’s interior during any accident.
Passengers need to use a seat belt to avoid injury related to air bags because airbags are designed to work with safety belts and do not replace them.
India has a mandatory rear seat belt law, even though there is almost no obedience.
The source said the Minister also asked Siam and CEO of the car company to improve the manufacture of flexible fuel machines to reduce dependence on imported crude oil and to improve the rural economy.
Siam has been looking for up to 2027 to launch a machine like that and also look for roadmaps for alternative fuel availability to encourage the adoption of the vehicle.
It also advises the government to prepare a road map with guaranteed price of flex fuel, which must be made cheaper to encourage people to switch to the vehicle.
The distance of the ethanol-fueled vehicle is less than gasoline.
