Nagpur: Expressing concerns over the increasing number of accidents, minister of unity for road transportation and Jalan Raya Nitin Gadkari on Saturday advising authorities to immediately repair such places to avoid the loss of valuable lives.
He directed the elected public representatives, officers from the State Transportation Department, Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Collectorate and police traffic to visit various places in the city and districts and find out the spots that are prone to accidents like that.
He told them to sit together and made a comprehensive plan to repair such places to avoid accidents.
The city MP spoke after the Save Life Foundation made a presentation before him as part of the ‘Nagpur Road Safety Project’.
“Administration must correct all such accident sites as soon as possible so that no one loses his life because of an accident or becoming a defect.
The Save Life Foundation has previously worked on the safety of the road in many cities.
We tried to make Nagpur City of Zero accident,” Gadkari said after the meeting .
After the presentation, the traffic police submitted a representation to the minister who registered the steps to control the accident on the streets of the city.
They emphasize to install eye patches, street lights, and speed lumps in various areas in the city.
It includes – ajni, belarma, Hudeshwar, Wadi, MIDC, Hingna, Gittikhadan, Mancapur, Aware, Lakdaganj, Shanti Nagar, Yashodhara Nagar, Jaripatka, Kapil Nagar, Pachpa, Koradi, Kalamna, Pardi, and Lime.
They also seek help from other authorities to remove trees and electricity poles in the middle of the road and repair holes.
The event was attended by BJP leaders, including MP Vikas Mahatme, City and MLC President Pravin Datke, Hingna Mla Sameer Meghe, Kampee Mla Tekchand Sawarkar, MLC NG Ganar and others.
Top parties such as Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Collector Vimala R, Commissioner of NMC Radhakrishnan B, member of the Chandrasekhar Mohite road safety committee and officers from the State Transportation Department and the Regional Transportation Office (RTO), also attended the event.
