New Delhi: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has warned consultants involved in preparing project reports (DPRs) and overseeing the highway project of the main penalty if there was a structure or road accident failure.
He also warned them about the extent to which fire archiving for their negligence claimed any life, said the source.
Gadkari made these comments while leading the interaction with more than two dozen consulting companies on Tuesday for several problems including poor DPR’s quality and poor work monitoring during construction and maintenance phases.
The minister marks how bad the quality of the DPR is responsible for accidents, aligning, landslides, collapsing the bridge and flood of roads.
“DPRS must include the latest and best technology in the world.
The minister said if the bridge collapsed, the project consultant must be responsible, but the mistake came to the ministry,” said a source.
Toi also learned that the minister attacked officials because they used the tactics delay and said they would also be responsible.
Gadkari said the failure was not only in the consultant engineer but also in part of the government due to delays in obtaining forest permits, land acquisition and other legal approval.
“The minister said while preparing the DPR, the consultant had to visit the site than more on the online map.
He marked how no basic surveys affected the project and some cases of additional work must be approved after the project settlement.
