Jaipur: Gandhian and Freedom Fighter S N Subba Rao, 92, who played an important role in the surrender of 400 bandits, including 100 in Dholpur, in the 1970s died on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at SMS Hospital.
His condition deteriorated last night and, in the morning, he was declared dead.
His body will be cremated in the ashram in Morena in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday.
The Chairman of the Ashok Gehlot Minister and PCC President Govind Singh Doatasa paid tribute to Rao in Vinoba Gyan Mandir Hall in Jaipur that day.
In the order of condolences, Gehlot said that his relationship with Rao returned 60 years, when he was 10-12 years old.
“He came to Jodhpur with the president of the Kamraj Congress ago.
Since then, he has visited Rajasthan and holds several youth camps and has inspired a teenager’s lakh in this country,” Gehlot said.
In another tweet, he said, “I personally disadvantaged the death of Veteran Gandhian, Padmashree Bhaiji Dr.
Subba Rao.
He has been linked to this country’s young man for the past 70 years and constantly inspires them through his camps.” Born in Bangalore on February 7, 1929, Rao was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi from his teenagery.
He has participated in the struggle for freedom from the age of 13 and has never looked back.
He was known for his ‘Shramdan’ camps that mobilized young people to participate in the nation’s development by means of Gandhian.
Gehlot, considered close to him, has supported all his activities in the state.
He was called as a special invitation for several programs organized by Gehlot, especially the National Youth Festival held at Udaipur in 2011.
Gehlot offered him a place to live near Jaipur, not Madhya Pradesh as a sign of respect for him.
He was associated with First Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on several projects related to non-violence.
He also plays an important role in forming peace cells and non-violence.
