Patna: Minister of Construction of the State of Nitin Nabin said on Thursday that the rehabilitation of the East Side Setu Mahatma Gandhi will be completed in March next year.
He also claimed that another bridge which was parallel to Gandhi Setu would be ready in 2024.
The minister submitted a claim during the site inspection of two bridges on Thursday.
Outlining the progress in Gandhi Setu’s rehabilitation, Nabin said, “While the west side has been rehabilitated, working on the east side of the bridge began in November last year.
Demolition of the old concrete structure from the east side is almost done and the new superstructure is being built in its place.” Gandhi rehabilitation is setu 39 years old is being carried out by the Ministry of Road Transportation and Highway and work executed by Infrastructure AFCONS LIMITED and SIBMOST at a cost of Rs 1,742 Crore.
“About 93% of jobs in the range segment and 50% on the dock lid have been made.
All rehabilitation work is targeted to be completed on March 31, 2022,” Nabin said.
The Minister of Road Construction also visited the site of four bridge lines to come and try to understand the well-used technology foundation technology.
The proposed bridge is part of the special package of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Bihar which he has announced before the 2015 Assembly election.
The total length of zero miles in Patna to Ramashish Chowk in Hajipur is 5.63km and overall length 14.5 km.
The project also includes flyovers, four small bridges and 21 km-length service roads.
Officials claim that the path of the existing approach to Gandhi Setu will be developed into four lines to provide connectivity to the new bridge.
The targeted bridge project is complete at the end of 2024 at a cost of Rs 2,926 Crore.
Engineers told the minister that the project was executed on time.
Additional Chief Secretary (road construction department) Amrit Lal Meena and Chief Engineer Neeraj Saxena, among others, are also present at the location.
