Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday paid a flower wage to Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at their birth warnings, said that their lives and work continued to be a light guide in the present.
He blocked the portrait of Gandhiji and Shastri here on that occasion.
Thackeray said, “Gandhiji’s life gives a message about independence, dignity of labor, cleanliness and rural development.
He has become an ambassador of peace and nonviolence.” Speaking of Shastri, the ministerial head said he gave a strong leadership to the nation and his slogan ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’ continued to inspire.
On that occasion, Thackeray praised the ‘Safai Mitras’ (Sanitation Workers) and frontline workers to carry out their duties to ensure cleanliness during the Covid-19 pandemic, and said the decision of the Urban Union development department to respect their work was commendable.
