New Delhi: One of the favorite Christian singing Mahatma Gandhi “living with me” was dropped from this year’s retreat ceremony on January 29, according to a brochure released by the Indian army on Saturday.
“Living with me”, written by Anglican Scottish poet and Henry Henry Hemnology Francis Lyte in 1847, has been part of a retreat beating ceremony since 1950.
This year’s ceremony will conclude with the ‘sare jahan se acha’, this brochure states.
Beture retreat is used to end with the song “stay with me”.
This brochure also enrolled 26 songs that will be played at this year’s ceremony at Vijay Chowk.
26 songs that will be played at this year’s ceremony include ‘Hey Kancha’, ‘Channa’, ‘Jai Janam Bhumi’, ‘Nritya Sarita’, ‘Vijay Josh’, ‘Banna’ Kesaran ‘,’ Veer Sichen ‘,’ Hathroi ‘, ‘Hathroi’, ‘Vijay Ghosh’, ‘Ladaakoo’, ‘Swadesh’, ‘Amar Chattan’, ‘Gold Arrow’ and ‘Swarn Jayanti’, according to the brochure.
‘Veer Sainik’, ‘Fanfare by Buglers,’ INS India ‘,’ Yashasvee ‘,’ Jai Bharati ‘,’ Kerala ‘,’ Siki A ‘,’ Hind Ki Sena ‘,’ Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja ‘,’ Drummer Call ‘ , ‘Ae Mere Watan to Logon’ is also part of the 26 songs to be played on January 29, the brochure noted.
Beating Retreat is a centuries military tradition originating from the days when the forces regardless of the battle at sunset, mentioned.
