Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has planned to renovate garden courtyards and the development of a three-story auditorium under the Beauty Project for Lake Gandhisagar.
MP-MP and Minister of Union Nitin Gadkari also suggested a three-level floating restaurant in the water body.
Gadkari and the opposition leader Devendra Fadnivis on Sunday showed Bhoomipai from RS31.5 Crore Gandhisagar Lake Beautification Project.
The Mayor of Dayashankar Tiwari, Mla Vikas Kumbhare, MLC Pravin Datke and the others were present.
According to the project resolved by the Civic Agency, the auditorium will appear after destroying Bal Bal Bhavan located near the edge of the lake.
The first floor will accommodate a museum, the second floor to have a 3D center and the third floor is for recreational activities.
NMC has proposed to build road connecting new bridges with garden pages such as the island which will also be renovated.
Strengthening the retaining wall will be followed by a new high fence erection to prevent people from committing suicide in the body of the water.
The mini-sewage processing plant will be arranged to release waste water treated in the lake.
A new sidewalk will be built around the lake and other types of beauty care will be carried out.
This project was approved by Fadnivan during his term as CM.
But the government only released RS12 Crore.
NMC will contribute RS2.9 Crore.
Tiwari asked Gadkari and Fadnivis to ensure the release of funds.
Fadniv said, “Gadkari and I will confirm the release of the remaining funds,” he said.
Opposition leaders in further assembly say that the land water table of many regions will increase with Gandhisagar conservation.
“During my tenure as Mayor and Gadkari as Minister Guardian, we had planned a very good project but the inheritance conservation committee resisted 60% of the work.

Tiwari asked Gadkari to connect Chitnis Park with the planned flyover from Indora Chowk to Sakkardara.
Gadkari said that he would sanction RS150-200 Crore for the development of Chitnis Park and NMC must plan a project on the Bazaar Palika Delhi lane.
