KOLLAM: Kottiyam Police on Friday arrested a 28-year-old young man who was part of a criminal gang suspected of trying to kill a 32-year-old man at MughaThala in July.
Rafeeq, son of Abdul Liatief of Vayalil puthenveettilpattarumukku, near Umayanalloor was arrested by the police here.
It was on July 21 this year Shemeer, 32, the son of Kamaludeen Aiswarya Nagar-14 Kilikollooor was attacked by criminals near the intersection of Umayanalloor.
Shemeer was seriously injured on the face in the attack.
The gang, which included Rafeeq, had attacked him with an iron rod which caused a serious injury to his nose and spine.
Shemeer had to undergo treatment at the first Medical College hospital and then he shifted to Kundara Taluk Hospital here.
He still continues in the Taluk Hospital.
Acting on the tip received by the Police Commissioner T Narayanan, Chathannur ACP B Gopakumar entrusted efforts to kill the case to Kottiyam Sho Jimstel.
Rafeeq was captured by a team consisting of the Sujith G Nair, Shihab, Renox and CPO Anish sub investors.
The defendant was then produced in front of the court and had been returned in the custody of the judiciary.
