Bhubaneswar: A married woman is 22 years old, who left her house to attend a nature call in the District Puri, allegedly raped by four people on Saturday night.
Puri policy captures four on Sunday.
The police identified the main allegations as Balaram Bhoi alias Bali and his accomplice Ajit Das, Kanhei Bhoyi and Bidyadhar Swain.
Police said all the defendants belonged to the neighboring village to women in Puri District.
In his complaint, the rape victim accused him of going to Riverbed village around 10pm to relieve himself.
“Take advantage of his loneliness, Balaram bit him and his three colleagues defeated him.
Balaram and his three friends then raped him,” he was quoted as saying by a police officer.
When he didn’t return home around 11pm, her husband and other family members went looking for him near the river.
They found him crying and then took him to the police station to file a complaint.
“We noticed serious violations and immediately arrested four accused.
The cost sheet will be submitted to the defendant in 30 days.
Strict action will be taken according to the law,” said Puri SP Kanwar Vishal Singh.
It should be noted that the alleged rape of a gang occurs against the background of ongoing political anger for suspicion of deteriorating laws and order situations, most problems involving women’s safety in the state.
BJP and Congress opposition has targeted BJD in power over the murder of a recent school teacher Mamita Meer and alleged the involvement of the Minister of State for the house, Shankar Mishra with the murder accused.
