Patna: Ganga flows 1.43 meters above the level of danger in Kahalgaon in the Bhagalpur district on Friday.
The water level in the river, however, continues to show a downward trend in all other places in the state.
Ganga water was seen accumulating in his eastern stretch in Bhagalpur and Katihar Regency to a series of Faraakka.
The river is in a threatening form along the eastern stretch of 60km from Bhagalpur.
The situation of the flood has not diminished in the Begal and Munger district.
At present, the worst affected area is in Kahalgaon and Block Pirpainty in South Bhagalpur, Gopalpur, Rangda, Naugachhia, Kharik and Block Bihpur in North Bhagalpur and Changela, Barari and other regions in Katihar Regency.
Three rivers that carry their water to the area are Kosi, Ganga and Mahanda, which flows above the danger level in this stretch.
Because of the expected rain in the riverbank in Bihar and also in Nepal until August 23, the flood situation might be exacerbated along the Ganga Basin, again, it was feared.
The Department of Water Resources (WRD) also seeks to meet the challenges during the third peak that might occur in the last week of August or early September.
On Friday, Ganga flows below the danger level only in Buxar and Digha, while the surface of the water is expected to slide below the danger level in Gandhi Ghat on Saturday, because the fall is expected to be 43cm.
If not, the river flows 90cm above the level of danger in Hathidah and 84cm in Bhagalpur.
