Ganga-Yamuna swells in Prayagraj, causing a situation like a flood

Prasagraj: With the Uttrakhand section, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan received heavy rainfall over the past ten days, the Ganga River and Yamuna began to swell in various locations in the Prayagraj district.

In accordance with the data received from the flood control department, the surface of the Ganga River in Phaphamau (on July 29) was 78.47 MTs, which increased by 26 cm in the next 24 hours and was recorded at 78.73 MTs.
The river continues to swell and the water level at the same point is recorded as 78.85 on Saturday.
Likewise, the Yamuna River is also on the rise, and the water level increases at a much faster level than Ganga.
In Naini, the river has increased by 60 cm in the last 48 hours.
The Yamuna water level in Naini was 75.92 MTs on 29 July which increased to 76.18 MTs on July 30 and 76.78 MTs on Saturday.
Similarly, the ganga river water level in Chatnaag (about three kilometers downstream Sangam, Ganga-Yamuna and Saraswati Mitos meetings) also increased.
The ganga water level in Chatnaag was 75.39 MT on July 29 which increased to 75.70 on 30 July and increased by 72cm in the next 24 hours.
On Saturday, the water level was 76.42 ms.
Because of the increase in water in the river, the large area of ​​the Bank of the Sangam has been submerged in flood water.
According to information received from the Irrigation Department, 191697 Cusec Air was released from Kanpur on Friday.
At the same time, the 108506 Cusec Air was released from Haridwar.
Irrigation department officials said that Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh received continuous rain, because the water level increased rapidly in the proagraj.
Due to a quick gain on the surface of the water, flood water and bank erosion have increased in Phaphamau, Jhunsi, Chhatnag, DaraGanj area.
“We also maintain a nearby vigil in the amount of rainfall in Rajasthan, Uttrakhand and Madhya Pradesh which can also have an impact on the volume of water in Yamuna and Ganges”, said the executive engineer of the flood control department, Brijesh Kumar Verma.
With fear that the situation of floods in the district, including many regions of urban boundaries can be gloomy in the coming days, the district government and national disaster response forces (NDRF) have intensified their obligations in several areas of the city located near the banks of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers.
The area includes DaraGanj, Nagwasuki, Baghada, Chhota Baghada, Salori, Rasulabad etc.
which are mostly affected by floods in the past.
