Letter: In a big shame for the police, a 28-year-old man accused of Gangrape escaped from detention just outside the Pandesara police station on Monday.
Accused of Ramchandra aka Ram Pradhan encouraged the police, who drove him to court, and fled.
Pradhan, a resident of Bamroli Road and Odisha’s native, was arrested on Sunday because of the alleged abduction of a 14-year-old girl with learning disabilities.
The minor was lost on July 21 from his house where he lived with his grandparents.
His grandfather runs a sweet shop.
His father was no longer and his mother remarried.
After the arrest of Pradhan, the investigation revealed that he was with three other small boys allegedly raping the girl.
“Definite details about crime are still not available.
He escaped from the police station by pushing the police when he was taken to court in a van,” said a Chaudhary, police inspector, police station Pandesara.
