Thiruvananthapuram: Stupid Gangster Karate Farooq, who serves a life sentence for killing his rival outside the special prison in Attakkulangan 22 years ago, has died of alleged heart disease in the city.
He is 52 years old.
Police said that Farooq, who was traveling, died around 2am on Friday at his residence in Beemapally.
The local court court has sentenced him to the death penalty for the murder of the Kabir LTTE, another famous gangster.
Kabir was a underage prisoner when he was killed in 1999.
He was taken to a sub-prison from the court when Farooq and gang threw crude oil bombs at him.
Farooq was given a death sentence by the court.
However, the Supreme Court then changed the death penalty into a life sentence.
After serving several years in Poojapura Central Jail here he was transferred to the Viyur center prison.
More than a year ago he was given a reason for cole exemption, but on condition that he was not allowed to enter the capital.
However, this condition relaxed after Covid 19 pandemic.
