Kolkata: BCCI President Ganguly was tested positive for the Delta variant plus Covid-19 but was dismissed after four days of hospitalization because infection was not severe and could be managed in house isolation, a hospital official said on Saturday.
Although the former Indian captain has not been infected with Omicron variants, the sample was taken back two days back positive for Delta Plus variants from Covid-19.
“Ganguly samples are tested positive for Delta Plus variants.
We treat it for that,” the official said.
Ganguly, which was dismissed on Friday after testing the negative for the Omicron variant, would remain in the insulation of a house for the next two weeks under the supervision of a doctor, he said.
The 49-year-old player rushed to the Woodlands Multispeciality hospital on Monday night as a preventative measure after the RT-PCR test was positive for Covid-19.
Ganguly accepts “monoclonal antibody cocktail therapy” after entering.
He was hospitalized twice earlier this year and underwent an emergency angioplasty after complaining of heart problems.
His brother Ganguly Snehasish has also tested the positive Covid-19 earlier this year.
