New Delhi: BCCI Sourly’s President has come down from the Board of Directors of Sanjiv Goenka owned by ISL Club ATK-Mohun Bagan because it can cause conflict of interest situations after a business tycoon managed to bid the Lucknow IPL franchise.
Ganguly has been part of the Atletico-Kolkata since the commencement of the Indian Super League in 2014.
The club was execristic ATK (Amar Tomar Kolkata) before joining Club Legacy Mohun Bagan.
The Group of RP-SG Goenka won the Lucknow IPL team for the planting RS 7090 crore on Monday.
“Yes, Sourav Ganguly has sent a letter to the management of ATK-Mohun Chart and signaled them that he would no longer be able to have a seat among the club’s board of directors because RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group now has an IPL team and it can be a case of conflicts of interest,” said Senior IPL source to PTI on Thursday.
“Once the IPL offer is complete, it is formalities and gangulies have done what is needed.
Until the IDR-SG offer is successful, there are no cases of conflict of interest because they are not part of the IPL,” he added.
Previously, Goenka had told CNBC-TV18 that the former Indian captain would resign from the board of directors.
“Well, I think he will come down from Mohun Bagan completely …
I think today,” Goenka told business television networks.
“This is for Sourav to make an announcement.
I mean, sorry.
I think I set it out.” Rule 38 (iv) relating to conflicts of direct or indirect interest states: “When BCCI, a member, IPL or franchise enters the contract setting with an entity where individuals are concerned or relatives, partners or associate lid have interest.” This is for Incorporating cases where family members, partners or associates lid are in a possible position, or can be seen compromised as individual participation, performance and role disposal.
