Bhubaneswar: Ganjam, the most populous district in the state, will get the highest number of 15 indoor stadiums from 89 Multi-Guna Stadiums approved by the Country Cabinet recently.
While all of these stadiums will be established in urban areas, the state government has identified the famous council (NACS) or small cities for the establishment of indoor stadiums, which will also be used as community shelters during disasters and 50 hospitals or 100 The bed during a pandemic.
On Ganjam, Turf Home Minister Naveen Patnaik, Indoor Stadium will appear in ASKA, Belagüttha, Bhanjanagar, Buguda, Chikiti, Digapahandi, Ganjam, Gopalpur, Khallikote, Kodala, Kabisuryagar, POLOSARA, PurusHotels, Rambha and Sorada, Official Source said in the Department of Sports and youth.
While Bhubaneswar and Cuttack Municipal Corporations each have three indoor stadiums, Rourkela Municipal Corporation will have one of these facilities.
52 indoor stadiums are planned at 52 NAC and 30 indoor stadiums in 30 cities.
Three city corporations will have seven indoor stadiums.
All of these projects will be taken under the Urban Sports Infrastructure Development Project which aims to facilitate quality sports infrastructure in the state, a senior government official said.

The Cabinet has approved the RS 693.35 Crore to implement urban sports facilities because the government has targeted to complete these projects in 18 months.
