MEERUT: The small town of Garh Mukteswar in the Hapur district, around 159-km from Delhi, is likely to host Kanwar Pilgrimage Lakh if the government rises well to allow Yatra.
With Haridwar Out of Bounds after the Uttarakhand government said pilgrimage for this year to quote a threat from Pandemic, Garh Mukteswar slowly emerged as an alternative destination for Shiva worshipers.
The upper government, who previously asked Uttarakhand to let pilgrims passed on the way to Haridwar, from where they collected water from Ganga, had asked all who participated in Yatra to bring the Covid-19 negative certificate.
Yatra is likely to start from July 25 unless there is a change of plan.
Apart from above, Kanwariyas from Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and even Himachal participated in Yatra.
Administration, after contemplating several alternatives, has focused on the ancient city of Garh Mukteswar, who accommodates pilgrims throughout the year.
Commissioner Division Meerut, Surender Singh, told Tii, “We have started preparations for the whole security and management.
Now Uttarakhand has canceled it, we must find another goal from which pilgrims can take ganga water.
For example, worshipers in the East bring holy water From Prayagraj and Varanasi.
In the West, the site can become Garh Mukteshwar in Hapur.
But our option is open and we work in this direction.
“Horur District Havur, Anuj Singh, said the government would be able to hold Yatra in the city because the number would be less Because Covid.
“The possibility of using Garh Mukteshwar Ghats for pilgrimage being explored as a religious exhibition lasted throughout the year here.
One to two Lakh pilgrims regularly visited the city for various welds.
It was true that Kanwar Yatra was a big event, but because our pandemic did not expect a big meeting, “He said.
He added that the instructions had been given to observe the Covid protocol.
“The health department will install a relief desk equipped with sanitisers, masks, thermal screening facilities and testing on routes and in temples.”
