Garment production Price shoots up by 30 Percent as inputs turn Expensive

Coimbatore: Garment exporters in Tirupur reported the manufacturing price of clothing had gone up by 30% since December 2019, due to the skyrocketing costs of raw materials, largely because of yarn.Raja M Shanmugam, president, Tirupur Exporters’ Association, stated the dye cost had shot up by over 40 percent in the last six weeks.

We cannot compare the lockdowns whatsoever.” The garment industry has two major seasons – summer (September to March) and winter months (April to August).
G R Senthilvel, secretary, Tirupur Exporters and Producers’ Association, stated the effect of the lockdown will be felt just after the businesses begin to work in a full-scale way.
“The lockdown comfort has instilled a feeling of confidence one of our clients, that are delighted to see us resuming work.
This may help us keep our customers.”
