Gart Lake House – DOKU Member Member Robbed

Kolkata: The thief struck a former home member of the Bidhannagar board and chose a laptop, cell phone, watch and cash stored on the bedside table in his first floor room on Thursday.
The incident had left local residents who were panicked because they were worried about the instance of developing theft and grabbing in the city and courage in the criminals to target the house of members of the board of former council members.
Anindya Chatterjee, former member of the Bidhannagar Board of Municipal Corporation, who has been out of Trinamool Congress last year like many of his Bidhannagar colleagues only to rejoin the party after the poll, is a resident of Block BA in Salt Lake and is a leading figure in the neighborhood.
The theft made him shocked.
“Definitely the work of some outer criminals.
People in this area know me and my home really well.
They will not dare to do anything like this.
But it is very concerned.
This is the first time something like this happened to us,” said Chatterjee, who said the goods were worth between Rs 1 lakh and RS 1.2 lakh was stolen.
Locals are afraid of how they will remain safe in their homes if a leading political figure like Chatterjee is targeted.
“Thieves don’t even save police houses and politicians today.
How can we think of staying safe at the comfort of our home?” Deceived the elderly population, who lived several houses from Chatterjee.
In recent months, the incidence of theft and snatching had risen in the city with many cases reported from various blocks.
While a 65-year-old pedestrian was a victim who grabbed and lost his golden chain in the EE block last month, the team consisting of four robbers was intercepted by the police, a few moments before they were destroyed at home in the KB-KC block.
There is also a new case that stole money from a civil volunteer wallet in the police station.
Previously at the end of June, six houses in the CG block were attacked by thieves in three days.
“I regularly went for a morning walk and news like that only caused fear for us when we went out and had a morning or evening walk,” said Kabita Datta, a BD block resident.
Tamal Pal (43), another resident of the HB Block in Salt Lake, said: “Some examples of seizing and theft like that used to be common in Salt Lake when the cities developed, but with the increasing population and the presence of such police had dropped.
But news recently about Jatchings and recurring theft is very concerned.
I will urge the police to take action.
