Ludhiana: To ensure faster, smarter, transparent and timely election work with ease, the Indian Election Commission (ECI) has introduced the Garuda application for digital mapping from all voting stations by adding latitude and cubicles (BLO).
Interacting with journalists before holding a meeting review of the poll in Ludhiana on Friday, Chief Electoral Officer Dr.
Karuna Raju said that through this application, BLO will upload photos and location of polling station from the registered cellphone number of their cellphone number.
He said that the application would help in minimizing paper work and BLO will be able to add voter names, removal of the name or modification of addresses in the voter list.
He said that the details of the facilities are guaranteed, including toilets, wheelchairs, drinking water, electricity, warehouses, chairs and ramps for diflently-emping in polling booths will also be added there and can be checked online.
He added that in the next three days, ECI will complete the entire process in Ludhiana.
Raju said that because of Covid-19 pandemic, the number of polls was upgraded to 24,659.
