Ahmedabad: Even though the price of gasoline does not touch the highest psychologist Rs 100 per liter in Gujarat, it rises with a 27% comfained in a year, adding to the cost of traveling people throughout the state.

“The price of fuel has increased over the past four months,” said a petroleum dealer based in the city.
“Demand increased in June and July this year and sales of at least 10% higher on the July 2020 figures, when recovery in slow movements, especially after the first lock.” In April and 2021 May, the sale of gasoline and diesel remained calm, thanks to the second wave of Covid-19 which hit the country because of various restrictions imposed and people were reluctant to travel.
As a result, because the demand and prices both increased, tax collection also rose.
The data of the Country Commercial Tax Department showed that the PPN collection on non-checked items including fuel in Gujarat in July 2021 jumped 49% against the July 2020, from Rs 1,593 Crore to Rs 2,380.
The VAT collection also grew 12% month to month against RS 2,124 Crore in June 2020.
Sources in the State Commercial Tax Department said that the overall consumption had risen with Covid-19 receding cases.
“Economic activities have increased and as a result of transportation and individual travel taken causes an increase in fuel consumption,” said a source.
“This led to a surge in the VAT collection in July during the same month in the previous year.”
