MADURAI: Minister of Finance Tamil Nadu P T R Palanivel Thiama Rajan Announcement in the budget that tax on gasoline will be cut by RS 3 well received by two-wheeled and car users.
Many people, who have planned to fill gas in their vehicle, delay it on the day when the pieces will come into force on Saturday.
The decline in demand in gasoline dispensers was seen from Friday afternoon.
“I delayed filling my car tank which had a capacity of 35 liters until Saturday.
I can save Rs 105,” said V Manian of Bibikulam.
Various trade bodies including the Small Industry Association of Madurai Regency welcomed tax cuts because it would benefit workers using two-wheeled.
However, diesel consumers, including mechanical ship owners, disappointed.
The ship’s owner spent several lakh rupees in Diesel for each expedition of deep sea fishing.
“We need 5,000 to 7,000 liters with a cost of Rs 4.77 lakh to RS 6.68 Lakh for a fishing expedition which lasts three to six weeks.
Similar pieces will help us save RS 2 lakh to RS 3 Lakh in a year,” P Dickson from Kanyakumari.
The Tamilnadu Foodgrains Merchant Association Limited states that the tax discount on Diesel will reflect with a decrease in transportation costs by transporter.
This will be beneficial for ordinary people and the trade and industry sectors.
