Bengaluru: Close on the heel of the Supreme Court permission to frame the charges against Mohan Nayak N, accused of activists Journalists of Gauri Lankesh’s murder case, with the provisions of Karnataka’s control over organized crime laws, a special court on Saturday which was framed against 17 defendants.
Defendant Amol Kale, Amit Baddi, Parashuram Wagmore, Poor Ganesh, Amit Degwekar, Bharat Kuran, Sudhanva Gondalekar, Mohan Nayak N, Suresh Hl, Sharad B Kalalasakar, Vasudev B Suryavanshi, Sujith Kumar, Manohar Yedave, Srikanth J Pangarkar, KT Naveen Kumar and Rushikesh Devadekar.
The defendant was charged under the Indian Criminal Code 302 section (murder), 120B (criminal conspiracy), 114 (abettor present during a violation), 118 (hiding the design to commit warm violations), 109 (reduction to commit violations), 201 Loss of evidence), 203 (false information about violations), 204 (Destruction of evidence), 35 (criminal acts by several people); Various parts of the arm acted for ownership and use of arms and ammunition prohibited, and part 3 of KCoca Act, 2000 related to organized crime.
Special Judge Anil Bheemanna Katti read the allegations through video conferencing to the defendant, who was in the central prison at Parappana Agrahara, Bengaluru; Arthur Road Jail, Mumbai, and Jerawada Prison, Pune, in Kannada and Marathi, known languages are accused as needed under the CRPC.
The defendant claimed innocent and seeking court permission to fulfill their advocates in prison before repairing the court date.
The court said they could move the required application.
The court posted this problem until December 8 to repair the trial date.
To ensure a smooth trial, a direction was issued for a prison writer in Bengaluru not to shift / transfer one of the defendants who took place there without a certain court permission.
On September 22, 2021, a special court has directed a shift from those accused of taking place in prison in Tumaku, Ballari, Mysore and Shivamogga to the central prison, Bengaluru to frame the accusation.
Gauri Lankesh was shot dead by two men borne by bicycles on September 5, 2017, outside his home in Rajarajeshwarinagar, Bengaluru.
Sitting identified 18 was accused and managed to arrest 17, including Mastermind Amol Kale, Parashuram Wagmore Shooter and poor Ganesh, who rode a motorcycle.
Accused of number 15, Vikas Patel aka Nihal, fled.
