GCRI staff jumped off in a civil hospital

Ahmedabad: Efforts to save class IV Gujarat Cancer & Research Institute (GCRI) employees, Nilesh Solanki, who jumped from the fourth floor of a civil hospital was in vain on Thursday when he died during treatment.
Police Inspector Shahibaug K D Jadeja said the 45-year-old GCRI employee had separated from his wife about four years ago.
His children also lived with his parents, and he lived alone for the past few years.
The source said that he was mentally disturbed after the separation from his wife and had tried to end his life several times in the past.
Police and two vehicles from Ahmedabad fires and emergency services were in place to save him but Solanki jumped from the fourth floor.
Two of suicide videos became viral on Thursday where Afes officials and other people were seen trying to change his mind.
In one of the videos, officials asked him to eat Gutka offered by them but Nilesh insisted on ending his life.
He could be heard saying that he would jump from there even if the officials tried to save him by putting a net under the building.
Solanki then hesitated for a moment and took a leap.
He touched the boundary wall and fell on shade tin.
Police officials said that Solanki rushed to the hospital but died during treatment.
The hospital authority said that the man died of a head and body injury.
“He wandered around on Wednesday and was asked to leave the place because it was beyond his duties.
He had not reported the assignment since August 28 and did not even put his cut report,” said an official.
“He tried to jump from several other locations but looked and saved.
.
So, the police and the fire brigade are present here, “said an official.
