Berlin: Germany expects a Delta variant from Covid-19 to accounce up to 80% of infection this month and can relieve restrictions on travel from countries such as Portugal and England where he has dominated, the Minister of Health said on Thursday.
Jens Spahn said at a press conference that Germany could reduce the requirements of quarantine 14 days currently worn on travelers from countries with a high level of delta variant so it is ascertained that people who are vaccinated protected.
Spahn said the move could happen immediately, without determining.
The German Stiko Vaccination Commission later said on Thursday that the UK study showed that two vaccine doses seemed to provide as much protection as possible against the Delta variant by opposing the other Covid-19 variants.
Spahn reaffirms the importance of accelerating vaccination, noting that 37% of the German population has now received two shots, while 55% have had the first dose.
About half of the case of Coronavirus Germany is currently the Delta and Spahn variants say will dominate the end of this month.
Germany last week stated Portugal and Russia became a “viral variant zone”, which meant only German residents who could enter the country from these countries and still faced quarantine two weeks obligatory even if they were fully vaccinated or negative tests.
It has pushed German tourists there to hunt home and airlines to cancel flights.
Germany also classifies England as a zone “virus variant” like that.
Chancellor Angela Merkel will discuss restrictions on trips when he met with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Friday.
Spahn advises these countries can be transferred to the appointment as an area of risk, which means people can travel if they are fully vaccinated or have recovered from Covid-19, or released from quarantine after five days if they test negative.
The European Commission said on Tuesday that Germany should not impose a ban on Portugal but limit themselves to impose testing and quarantine requirements in line with the EU approach intended to facilitate summer trips.
