Berlin: The German government said it would donate all the future orders of the AstraZeneca vaccine to the Covax initiative supported by the United Nations.
Germany’s German Minister Jens Spahn told Media Group RedaktionsNzwerk Deutschland on Wednesday that 1.3 million vaccine doses will be sent to Covax, which can then distribute it to countries in need.
“It is our interest in getting a world vaccinated because this pandemic only ends when the virus is globally under control,” he said.
The media group reported Germany would give future orders from Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
That means 1.7 million doses to European Union countries and other third party countries.
