Chennai: The Minister of State for Union for Fisheries, Livestock and Milk, Information and Broadcasting L Murugan on Saturday appealed to the public to immediately get the Covid-19 vaccine.
He also appealed to people to remain careful considering the festival season and emphasized following safety measures such as wearing a mask.
“I asked them who had not received the second dose of vaccines to get it without further delay.
People must advance to get their shots, and they must use a door-to-door campaign,” said Minister.
He spoke after launching a door-to-door vaccination drive against Covid-19 near Koyambedu in Chennai.
Director of Public Health and Preventive Medical Dr.
T Selvavygam and officials from Greater Corporation accompanied ministers during the campaign.
Given the meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently with the district collector, the minister said PM had asked them to provide vaccines to people at their door.
Following this, the Health Minister Union Manukh Mandaviya launched a program in Gujarat on Thursday.
“We are here today to implement it in TN,” Murugan said.
Indicates that India achieved great achievements in the international arena by managing 100 doses of crore vaccines, Murugan said that it was not an easy task.
“Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has achieved this.
This achievement has been made with the support of the state government, doctors, nurses, frontline and public workers.” The minister continued that the center had given a vaccine to around six crore people at TN.
“There are more than 60 lakh people who have not received the second dose,” Minister said.
He urged the public to follow the Covid protocol without failing.
“Even though Diwali ends, other festivals will come.
Therefore, we must remain vigilant.” Asked about seaweed parks announced for TN in the Union budget, Murugan said the scheme would provide employment to women from the fisheries community and empower them economically .
There is an increase in demand for seaweed because it is used in fertilizer production and drugs, according to him.
“Seaweed is consumed as food items in Japan.
Because it has nutritional content, it will occupy an important place in the future.
There is a lot of scope for work and economic growth,” Murugan said and added that the seaweed project would begin once the government TN sent a report project.
