LONDON: British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in his natal night message on Friday urged the British public to be attached to a “beautiful” gift for the nation as a soaring case.
Johnson said that while a little time remained to buy a prize, “There is still an extraordinary thing that you can give a family and the whole country and it is to get the JAB, whether it’s the first or second, or your booster”.
The prime minister has rejected Harshher’s virus restrictions in England during Christmas despite a surge in a record in a case driven by the Omicron variant.
He instead focused on the drive to offer Booster Jabs for all adults at the end of the year.
He admitted that “After two years of this pandemic, I could not say that we passed”, when England set a new record on Thursday nearly 120,000 cases in 24 hours.
Last year Johnson enacted a stay at home on December 19 for London and Southeast England which meant millions had to change the Christmas plan.
This year he chose not to tighten the rules, said in his message that “for millions of families up and down the country, I hope and believe that this Christmas, and will, significantly better than the last”.
People have to test themselves before meeting vulnerable relatives, he warns, while encouraging them to enjoy the Jolly Christmas family.
If the wrapping paper stack is bigger than last year because more family members were present, it was due to the launch of the vaccine, he stressed.
He also said that getting a vaccine according to the teachings of Jesus Christ that “we must love our neighbors because we love ourselves”.
Johnson’s popularity has been hit by reports of parties held by Downing Street and other government departments during the locking period, and his party lost the election by the previous seats this month.
Some in his own party have also rebelled against the latest Covid steps, especially in the compulsory performance of Covid Pass to enter crowded places such as nightclubs, which they see violating personal freedom.
Nearly 100 MPS Tory opposed its size, which was passed by the overall parliament.
The Johnson Brexit project is also still mired in a quarrel in French fishing rights, a year after Britain reached an agreement with the European Union in the trade agreement.
