CHENNAI: Much as kids from town have been spending weeks together in the home, attending courses online, a number of writers has found a terrific opportunity in these occasions to create space for children to read longer, while quitting the neighborhood of Tamil children’s novel authors throughout the world.
Before this week, authors Udayasankar, Sugumaran, Vizhiyan, Saalai Selvam and Prabhu Rajendran, came together to launching Tamil Nadu Children Writers Artists’ Association, an umbrella body which intends to bring together the literary and literary community to renew the patronage for children’s books in Tamil.
“From the 1950s, veteran author Azha Valiappa conducted the Kuzhanthai Ezhuthalar Sangam (Children’s Writers’ Organization ), that held regular workshops, storytelling sessions and coaching for up-and-coming authors.
But then body has been dismantled, there has not been a definite attempt to revive this area,” states Vizhiyan, secretary of this Association.
The team, which is likely to bring together based in addition to newcomer authors of Tamil children’s books, has received over 350 programs from all over the globe, states Vizhiyan.
Besides running regular workshops for authors and storytellers, members of this Association intend to get in contact with the State department of instruction to assist with tools to become significant children’s literature out of overseas nations translated to Tamil, and similarly.
In addition they aim to push book-reading sessions between courses, allotment of kids’s Tamil novels to district libraries and also addition of wealthy Tamil literature in bridge classes for kids.
Udhayasankar who has a rich knowledge in translation and writing, has been appointed the president of this institution.
“we would like to strengthen the disposition of authors in the area to explore lively strategies to reach kids and nurture their curiosity about reading novels,” he states.
