Ghaziabad: A fire broke out at a three-story chemical plant in the Kavi Nagar industrial area on Sunday morning.
A firefighting inspector, who was in fire spots, was injured when he fell from the second floor and landed on the first floor of the building.
He had received a shoulder injury and his legs and his condition was declared stable, officials said.
There were no other people who were injured in the incident but some of the vehicles parked near the chemical plant at Pandav Nagar had been damaged.
Blaze was first noted around 9:30 a.m.
and in a few minutes, the flame spread to the adjacent factory, damaging that part.
More than 15 tenders of fire from Ghaziabad and Noida were called and needed more than five hours to hold fire.
Sunil Kumar Singh, Head of the fire department (CFO), Ghaziabad, said: “We sent a few tenders of fire to the place after getting information from the local community.
When the flames began to spread, more firefighting machines were called from other parts of Ghaziabad and the Gautam neighbor district Budh Nagar.
No factory workers were injured in the flames.
“Purusharth Yogendra, an inspector with a fire department, was injured in a fire department.
“Some of the roof chemical factories have collapsed and some iron roads lie on the second floor of the building.
When trying to put out the fire, Yogendra stumbled and fell from the second floor.
He landed on the first floor and received several injuries.
The officers were given trethod in the hospital and the conditions were declared Stable, “said Singh.
According to the local community, the smoke from the factory can be seen from a distance of 4-5 km.
The fire spread quickly because many flammable items were stored in a chemical plant, Singh said.
He added that the investigation had been ordered to ensure the exact cause of the fire.
Factory officials said initial estimates showed that losses reached around Rs 20 Lakh.
In another incident on Sunday afternoon, a fire broke out in a chemical factory near GT Road.
Singh said that they got information about the incident around 235 pm.
“Seven fire tenders were sent to the place and it took about 45 minutes to extinguish the fire.
There were no victims reported and we tried to find out what caused the flames,” he said.
