GHMC steps forward to hit the risk of dengue fever at school

Hyderabad: Given the increase in cases of dengue fever and children’s safety required to go to school starting September 1, The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has intensified the anti-larval and fogging operations along with special sanitation drives in the city.
Over the past three days, the Entomology wing of the Civic Agency has taken anti-larval operations at 1,371 educational institutions, foggy at 1,039 and sanitization at 1,328 institutions.
This happened after the GHMC recently found that with the emergence of the rainy season, there was a gradual increase in the face of the ‘Aedes Aegypti’ mosquito, the bearer of the dengue fever virus, in the city.
Houses are locked, schools and construction sites where there are stagnant water in the bathroom, container, bah, and tanks are the biggest threat during this season.
“Aedes mosquitoes only need one teaspoon of water to put the eggs and for larvae to fully develop into adult mosquitoes.
Because all schools have been closed for months together, because they can be a good place for mosquito breeding,” said Dr.
a Rambabu, head of Entomology, GHMC.
“To ensure that there is no stagnant water for these mosquitoes breed in schools and its surroundings, we take many steps, including effective supervision, which will continue until the end of this month and then there will be followed.
– A once week every week , “said Rambabu.
It is separate, for effective drive implementation, GHMC also identifies wedding hotspots in the city and categorizes it to construction sites, schools, functions, basements, open plots and locked houses.
