Hyderabad: Department of Veterinary and Animal and Animal Animal Husbandry (V & AH) has served a notification to 67 pet stores and identified 12 dog farmers in the larger Hyderabad region in the past two weeks.
Notifications are presented to pet shops and farmers after the Main Secretary of Maud, Arvind Kumar directing Commissioner of GHMC Lokesh Kumar to take action against all illegal units and close it, if they do not comply with the Guidelines of the Telangana State Welfare Board (TSAWB).
In his letter, the main secretary blazed the GHM to allow illegal breeders to operate by saying that the Civic body allowed them to operate illegally by bringing them under the Ambit Pet store.
However, when asked about illegal breeders and breeding dogs at home for commercial purposes, the official said, “In the GHMC limit there are only 12 farmers.
More than 90% of dog breeders are outside the GHMC limit.
If people breed dogs in Houses, we cannot appoint them as breeders.
To breed, there must be a cage, space and other rules that need to be followed and the activity will not be tolerated in the residential area.
To avoid this, GHMC instructions are to make dogs sterilized.
” However, officials inform that while GHMC can issue notices, according to the rules of pet stores, 2018 and the rules of dog breeding and marketing, 2017 regulations, only the country’s welfare council that has the authority to turn off or take illegal actions against illegal pets or units Breeding.

Monika, Animal Assistant Director, State Livestock Department, “We have received applications for registration from 77 pet stores in the city so far and before 67 of them presented a notification.
The registration application will be sent to the district officials concerned to do inspections and provide Proforma Inspection for V & Ah.
Only if the inspection report is satisfactory, we issue an inspection certificate.
So far, one or two pet shop inspections have been taken.
