VARANATION: Geographical Indication Expert (GI) Dr.
Rajani Kant from the Human Welfare Association (HWA) has assigned the registration task of 1,000 GI authorized users and skills training of 300 GI product craftsmen.
Commissioner Division Deepak Agrawal submitted an assignment letter to Kant as the presence of national bank officials for agriculture and rural development (Nabard), on Tuesday.
This initiative has been taken by Nabard, rising for branding and marketing of 17 GI items from 10 districts in the region.

Ds Chauhan sanctioned two programs in this matter.
“For the first time in this country, such a large initiative has been taken for the promotion of GI certified goods from the Varanasi and East regions,” Kant Toi said on Tuesday.
He said that the initiative would not only benefit craftsmen but also consumers regarding the availability of original products.
Kant said that the 15-day training camp will be held to improve the skills of 300 Mirzapur Handmade Durri craftsmen and Beads Glass Banaras.
According to him, between 17 GI items, 12 products including Brocade and Saree’s banarasi, Bhadohi carpet handmade, Mirzapur Handmade Durri, Varanasi Lacquerware and Toys, Banaras Metal Repouse Works, Banaras Gulabi Meenakari (Pink Enameling), Soft Varanasi Stone Jali Works, Pottery Black Nizamabad, Ghazipur Wall Hanging, Varanasi Glass Beads, Chunar Balua Pathar (Sand Stone) and Gorakhpur Terracotta have received certificates, while five items include Varanasi Zardozi Craft, Banaras Hand Block Print, Mirzapur Pital Bartan (Kuningan Ware) and Clazed Pottery Chunar will immediately receive a GI certificate.
