Sangli: The famous US-born researcher, the author about Ambedkarism and Movement Dalit Dr.
Gail Omvedt died after a short disease in Kasegaon, here on Wednesday, said aide.
He was 81 and survived by his husband Dr.
Bharat Patankar, a Prachi daughter, son-in-law of Tejaswi and Grand-Daughter Nia, who has settled in the US.
Born in Minneapolis in the state of Minnesota as, Dr.
Omvedt came to India after completing a higher study and distanced itself to various social movements for Dalit, poor and oppressed, farmers, women and other public causes.
The Omvedt-Patana pair founded Shramik Mukti Dal in the early 1980s, while he became an Indian citizen around 1983.
He wrote several books on various social subjects, taught in universities and universities and columns written for United, working for United Nation Development Program, Oxfam Novib, and other international bodies.

Omvedt will be held on Thursday morning at the campus of Krantiver Bapuji Patankar Sanshtha in Sangli, said Aide.
