PANAJI: Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) has installed 22 additional industrial plots on Verna for auction for continuing its offer to monetize a portion of the reclaimed land of a special economic zone promoter (SEZ).
GIDC offers a plot ranging from 1,500 square meters to 45,000 square meters with a long rental because trying to fund the exit of debt taken in May 2019 to pay five sez promoters.
22 Plots are part of the second stage of the larger 5 lakh sqm that GIDC has prepared to be contested in Verna.
The National Informatics Center (NIC) is an e-auction plot on behalf of GIDC.
“All selected bidders from the round of 1 have been issued by the offer of Alototment by GIDC,” said an official GIDC.
In September, GIDC has installed 31 industrial plots on Verna for auction.
The initial period for long-term leases is 30 years and the basic tariff for the plot has been set at Rs 5,000 per square meter.
“The plot will be allocated to the highest bidder through a two-step process,” the officer said.
“Rentals can be extended for a period of 95 years, if this industry is fully regulated and operates in the first five years,” said a senior GIDC manager.
Of the 5 lakh sqm intended for e-auction, only 4.42 lakh SQM will be allocated with the remaining space developed as an open space and utility.
The utility plot has been intended for sub-station settings by the Cave Electricity Department.
On December 30, 2019, the Industrial Department asked GIDC to auction 5 Lakh SQM from Land Sez which was taken over to pay a short-term loan RS 200 Crore taken in May 2019.
GIDC has a one-year moratorium on the payment of the principal, which ended in May 2020 And since then GIDC has paid around RS 4 Crore at EMIS to pay for the loan.
