GIMS to get a newborn treatment unit, RS 25 lakh sanctions

Noida: The National Health Mission (NHM) in Uttar Pradesh has agreed to determine the 12-bed (SNCU) new treatment unit (SNCU) at the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in Greater Noida.
A number of Rs 25 lakh has been subject to sanctions for it.
Officials said GIMS received a large number of newborn patients from all Western and units would help provide critical care to them.
“About 1,200 shipments are recorded every year in the Obstetrics Department of GIMs and 8-10% of infants need special resuscitation and treatment.
In addition, there are several shipments that occur outside the hospital and babies are then taken to the Institute for Intensive Care.
SNCU will improve Critical care facilities for newborns and help reduce mortality, “said Brigadir (retirees) from Rakesh Gupta, Director, GIMS.
Greater Noida facility is an autonomous institute founded by the state government and offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs at Paediatrics.Gupta added that it has an adequate space and infrastructure to regulate SNCU.
At present, PGI children are the only establishment of the government in the district with the Newborn intensive care unit facilities.
Five private hospitals in Gautam Budh Nagar also have such wards.
