Bharuch: A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped and strangled to death by unknown people near Amod City of Bharuch District Gujarat, police said on Wednesday.
The victim’s body was found on the outskirts of Sarbhan Village in Amod Taluka Regency on Monday night, an official from Amod said.
Corpse surgery was carried out at Bharuch a civil hospital and the report stated that the girl had been raped before being strangled, he said.
The girl left her house on Monday afternoon for firewood collecting and not returning until evening.
He was found dead on a cotton farm, he said.
“A case under the relevant provisions of Indian Code and the protection of children from sexual violations (Pocso) KIS has been submitted against identified accused,” the official said.
Senior police officials visit sites and teams separate from local crime branches, special operating groups and others have been formed to arrest the defendant, he added.
