Girl takes poison after losing class online, dead

Madurai: A 18-year-old student who consumed poison eight days ago dead at the Rajaji government hospital on Thursday where he underwent treatment.
His mother had told the police that his daughter took extreme steps because he was depressed after losing the online class a day.
Coming from Kalvelipatti Village near Vadipatti, an Arthi is a second year BCON student at an autonomous college in Madurai.
The incident occurred on August 12 when his mother went to work while his sister was also at home.
A relative to tells the Toi that Arthi learns and is always among the top two rankings in the class.
He was tense on the day because there was a network connectivity problem and he complained about it.
“He consumed pesticides used for mango trees due to the same afternoon frustration,” Special Sub Inspector (SSI) Police of a Chinnasamy said.
In learning about the incident, the mother rushed home and took her daughter to the hospital in Alanangallur with a two-wheeled vehicle.
He then rushed to the Rajaji government hospital.
He showed signs of good recovery but his health deteriorated on Thursday and died, said Chinnasamy.
After post-mortem, his body was handed over to his relatives on Friday and the last ritual was carried out on the same day.
Alanangallur police have ruled out the rotten game.
