Gurgaon: As a precaution, the Ministry of Health has directed all private hospitals in Gurgaon to filter all who returned from Afghanistan and provide free polio vaccination.
The hospital must prepare a list of self-returning and submit their data to the Ministry of Health.
In a meeting with the hospital on Friday, Gurgaon CMO Dr.
Virendra Yadav said a large number of Afghans recently arrived with their children in the city for care.
“In this situation, this is our priority to filter all Afghan children who live as refugees in Gurgaon.
Apart from their age, everyone must get a polio vaccine.” He said that the World Health Organization (WHO) also stated worried about the impact of the polio campaign in Afghanistan.
“It is a moral responsibility that we must provide drugs that save the lives of Afghans.” Dr.
Yadav said India has become a polio-free country since 2014 but the root of this disease is still in Afghanistan.

There are three types of wild polio viruses (WPV) – type 1, type 2, and type 3.
Wild polio viruses are an isolates that occur naturally known or believed to have been circulating in a community.
WHO said that people need to be protected against the three types to prevent polio, and vaccination is the best protection.
