Give the same compensation, plot up to 18+ women engulfed by airport projects: Study

Greater Noida: Seven-member Multi-Disciplinary Assessment Committee, led by Ignou Professor Satish Kumar, reviewed on Saturdays The findings of social impact research (SIA) which recommends the benefits of rights and rehabilitation and resettlement (RNR) for women influenced by the second stage From the Noida International Airport project.
The panel will forward the findings of the SIA group to the state government for further action.
Member of the Faculty of Gautam University of Nagar, who was assigned to prepare SIA reports, has conducted public hearings in six villages – Mundhera, Birampur, Kariauli, Ranterna, Kariauli Bangar and Delayanatpur – who will come under the second stage of the project from 1 to 11 November Presenting their findings before the recent expert committee.
According to officials, a total of 6,830 families tend to be influenced by the second phase of the project.
From them, 5,063 families tend to be displaced.
During public hearings, people who tend to be influenced by the project have been looking for several changes in the existing policy, said Tim Sia.
The key between them is the same rights and rehabilitation and resettlement (RNR) for women who will be affected.
During the first phase, even though Rs 5.50 lakh was offered to adult women from families who had to hand over their homes because of the project, a plot in the Bangar Jewar City was offered only to male male members.
Explain the reasons behind mismatch, a senior administrative officer said that it was assumed that unmarried girls, more than 18 years, would eventually shift to their prospective pair houses after their marriage and therefore had no plots offered to them.
Vivek Mishra, Nodal Officer Tim Sia, said that the team recommended giving a plot to unmarried adult women members under the RNR scheme.
He added that the final award for the land would be decided by the district government at the next stage.
The team also recommends obtaining land and shares the benefits of RNR through one window, unlike the last time when the villagers must make several government offices to claim the benefits or to submit the documents needed for verification.
The team has asked the authorities to pay for the award for the land obtained and the number of benefits of RNR together with the affected family of the project to help them plan their future lives in a better way.
The Yamuna Expressway Industry Development Authority, meanwhile, will be asked to notify eternal settlements in villages that do not come under the project to ensure they are not asked to empty their land packages in the future, officials said.
Yeida will decide whether different regulations will be applied in the lasting abortion settlement.
The SIA team has also recommended the alignment of the second phase of the project to maintain the eternal settlement of Singh’s Nagla Law Village from PurView.
Kunwar Pal Singh from Ranthera Village, which is part of the expert committee, demands the people, who are entrepreneurs and run small businesses, must be offered equal job opportunities during the resettlement.
