MUMBAI: The BEST Workers’ Union on Tuesday demanded that drivers that ply buses to its Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transportation “wet lease” also needs to get Covid allowance of Rs 300 daily along with ex-gratia of Rs 50 lakh for household in the event of death during obligation. “These drivers may also be risking lives to both ferry workers that are essential along with other commuters. So, why if they are deprived of their Covid insurance and unique allowances?” Said union leader Shashank Raosaid The BEST includes 1,243 buses on wet rent and almost 2,500 drivers working them. These statements are awarded to present drivers engaged full time with the job.
