The Maharashtra government has made a decision to continue teaching general knowledge (GK) as a subject in military schools for students of class XI and XII.
This was decided because it would help students to finish at the entrance and work exam after class XII.
Speaking to Times Educational, Seema Bahukhandi, Euro Principal, Pune, said, “according to the previous subject scheme, GK is being taught as a multilevel subject which means that every school teaches this in a different pattern.
In the absence of a stipulated pattern, several schools are carrying out subjective papers while some do the MCQ pattern test.
The allotment of the sign depends on the school report card pattern which means that the subject is stored as a multi-storey subject, or a sign is added to the final assessment.

“In most schools, GK has been taught as a subject that is assessed until now and schools have demanded that it must be taught as the main subject.
Until now, this is the wisdom of the school how important they want to give a subject and continue to teach them to the class.”
For example, some schools have GK to the primary level and others teach it to class IX.
However, because of the new education policy (NEP) 2020 requests felt to introduce a separate subject so that children consider it more serious.
”
“Private schools do not have clarification whether GK will be mandatory or elective subject.
Every competitive exam has a separate GK section consisting of almost all fields of knowledge including current affairs.
After a student chooses a certain stream after class X, more focus is given to flow That.
To present an interdisciplinary approach, students need to take an overview of all subjects.
The decision by the government will prepare students for competitive exams.
”
The right curriculum needs to be designed in the form of quizzes and discussions and experts must take classes.
Kashinath D Bhoir, Principal, Maharashtra Military School, Thane said, “General knowledge must be taught as part of the syllabus in the upper middle class.
All subjects add to the Quotient GK, and the emphasis must teach them about current affairs.
This will help solve the exam Competitive after class XII.
Students will appear for the MCQ type test pattern and descriptive to assess their level of knowledge.
