The reason, according to officials, is that Indirapuram is given by the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), which must maintain civil facilities in the city.
This argument has led citizens to question the right of GMC to collect home tax in Indirapuram.

Defending his move to collect home tax from Indirapuram, Commissioner of Mahendra Singh Tanwar, said:” GMC, according to the mandate What was given to us was below the 1959 UP Municipal Corporation, both in his right to impose home tax on all properties that fell under the GMC jurisdiction.
Indirapuram falls within city limits.
“” It needs to be clarified that the cities have not been submitted to the GMC, it is the responsibility of GDA to maintain the Civic facility, “added Tanwar.
Gda imposed the cost of maintenance from the population of Indirapuram and providing electrical waste channels and roads in the city.” We charge 24 % of the annual rental value as a home tax, water and gutter in the GMC colony.
In Indirapuram, we only charge a home tax, “said Sanjeev Sinha, Chief Tax Rating officer.” We have 49,596 consumers from whom the tax was charged.
In 2020-21, we collected Rs 10.69 Crore, “added Sinha.
Executive Engineer GDA and responsible for Indirapuram, said:” We are ready to hand over the city.
Except for some objections from GMC, everything is OK.
“Tanwar said:” There are problems related to roads and gutters in the city, which GDA needs to repair or pay us at least Rs 300 Crore for the same thing.
Only so, handover can be executed.
“Kumar said that residents were made to pay taxes to both institutions.” We pay the cost of care for GDA and spend a home tax to GMC.
However, Indirapuram still saw apathy Civic, “said Rakesh Kumar.
