GMC moves SC to neglect RS 1CR fines of inheritance waste

Ghaziabad: For almost two months after being fined Rs 1 Crore by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) for the delay in disposal of inheritance waste from Indirapuram, the Corporation Municipal Ghaziabad (GMC) has approached the Supreme Court to override the number of penalties.
In 2018, NGT acknowledged the petition submitted by the Welfare Association of Trans-Hindon residents who have accused that the dumping page that was not dismissed in the middle of the city pose a health hazard for the population of Indirapuram, Vaisali and Vaishali.
Furthermore, NGT formed a committee consisting of Ghaziabad District Judge, Deputy Chairperson of the GDA, and one representative from the Pollution Control Agency and the Central Control Board, which submitted a report in August 2019.
NGT, by 2020, was ordered by the TPA site cleaning.
GMC then hired a private agent to process 1.5 lakh tons of inheritance waste in Shakti Khand Indirapuram.
Mahendra Singh Tanwar, Commissioner of Kota, said, “We have processed 95% of inheritance waste, while the remaining ones will be handled at the end of this year, but NGT while hearing this case feels that it should be thrown away and enforce a fine of Rs 1 Crore.”
