GMCH faces never lack of drugs: residents

Nagpur: Theater of the victim, ward and operation (OTS) from the Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), known as the largest medical institutional campus in Asia, faces never lack of essential medicines and medical goods.
With the rush of Covid increases every day, their patients and relatives are getting nervous because they have to rush out to a personal medical store and laboratory even for drugs or basic tests.
Following the shortcomings, resident doctors in GMCH are many who are worried because they are afraid of patients’ relatives may be angry with shortcomings and someday may result in attacks on them.
“It becomes very difficult to provide medical care to patients without important medicines.
It is very embarrassing for us to prescribe every medicine and goods to poor patients, who view to government institutions such as GMCH as low-cost business,” said Dr.
Sajal Bansal, President Association Resident Doctor (Mard) Maharashtra, GMCH.
The population has written a request letter to the Dean responsible for their college, Dr.
Sudhir Gupta and Director of Medical Education and Research (DMER) Dr.
Diliped in this case.
“Many poor patients leave hospitals without care because they are unable to get drugs from outside.
Basic blood investigations such as CBC, LFT, KFT, arterial blood gases etc.
are chronicly not available at the Institute.
These tests look very basic, but Very expensive for patients when they have to solve it from a private laboratory, “the letter rang.
Residents have warned protests if GMCH administration failed to give them drugs and medical items needed.
‘No list is available’ provided by a surprising GMCH resident doctor because it also includes very basic things like set IV, saline, paracetamol, lead ECG, and even TT injections.
This list has 46 drugs, medicines and goods.
From them, at least 20 are life savings drugs.
“Apart from the Dean and Dmer, we have sent the same list as Secretary of the Ministry of Medical Education.
The current situation is the worst for poor patients and can be dangerous for resident doctors if someone in terms of the patient attacks us,” said Dr.
Bansal.
Blood investigation situation (CBC, KFT, LFT, SE, ABG) cannot be done in lead gmchecg, TT injection, betadine solution, sterile gloves and examinations not available relatives of patients they fear such shortages can end up with an attack on the doctor
