Gurugram: The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has set a November 15 deadline to repair cracks, holes, ravel and wheel marks on the road network 250 kilometers below its jurisdiction.
Excessive rainfall during the rainy season has brought damage to several main roads, officials said.
While GMDA began improvement of works starting in early October, heavy shower during the Monsun withdrawal period caused further damage to several segments.
On Sunday, Jaspal Singh, Head of the Infrastructure Engineer I Division GMDA, told TI that the authority had increased efforts to repair all damaged roads of rain.
“We have started to improve post-monsoon work and now have set deadlines on November 15.
We tried to complete the patchwork and fill the hole during this period,” Singh said.
Holes, said other senior officials, along most stretches have been fixed.
“But some stretches were revived because heavy rains during the period of the Monsun withdrawal must be repaired once more,” the official said.
South Peripheral Road (SPR) and Jalan Links between Honda Chowk Heroes and Umang Bhardwaj Chowk, and Honda Chowk Heroes and Subhash Chowk, are among stretches where repair work will be carried out for the second time, officially more.
In October, Minister of Manohar Minister Lal Khattar during video conferencing with the Commissioner of the Division and Deputy Deputy Commissioner had directed all road construction institutions to prepare schedules and ensure all damaged roads until the rain 30 November.
The road is around 1,200 kilometers of networks in the district, around 250 km, including SPR, Mehrauli-Gurugram Road and Netaji Subhash Marg, coming under GMDA.
