PANAJI: The Chairman of the Minister of Pramod Sawant said on Wednesday that the entire country’s eligible population would be given a dose of Covid-19 vaccine at the end of October.
He also said that the State was considering making JAB administration mandatory for those who had not taken it yet.
Speaking to reporters, Sawant said that with the help of doctors, nurses and paramedics, the state government had provided more than 10 doses of lakh.
Referring to the target of the state government of covering 100% of the population that meets the first dose on July 30, Sawant said that at this time, more than 8 lakh people had taken the first dose of vaccines, which were around 76% of the population.
“In the next 15 days, we target the administration of the first dose to the remaining 24%,” he said.
“Some people might have taken vaccines outside the country.” He also said that the state government tried to identify those who had not taken the first dose of vaccines, and that it would be given to them.
He also said that those who qualified for the second dose must take it.
When asked whether the state government would open the tourism sector after October 30, when the country would vaccinate 100%, Sawant said that he had said that tourism activities would be open after a qualified population given the first dose of vaccines, but that the government would make a decision about opening Return to the tourism sector.
