Quepem: After conducting a raid to examine the violations of cigarettes and other tobacco product laws, 2003 (COTPA), the Taluka Quepem Enforcement squad had ordered 11 cases and got a fine from shops and grocery bars.
A nationalized bank also removes Challan for violating part 4 COTPA which requires the appearance of mandatory ‘without smoking’ signage in that place.
The squad includes Quepem JT.
Mamlatdar Jeetendra Bugde, Secretary of Goacan Lorna Fernandes, Talathi Yogesh Phaldesai, Circle Inspector Anjali T Up, Sanitation Inspector from the Primary Health Center of Quepem Jaikumar Increases, Goacan Volunteer Cipriana Fernandes and Kapil Raikar and a police station Quepem Police Office.
The squad found a violation of part 4 Cotpa in grocery stores and restaurants – companies registered with the food and drug administration directorate and the bar licensed by the Excise Ministry.
Violations will be reported to the South Goa collector at the next quarterly review meeting.
