Density was witnessed in several wards and OPD, including operations, medicine, gynecology and pediatric and ward, with patients in southern covers away without other choices but suffered quietly.
Some patients had raised their voices and complained of hospital authorities that they were dismissed early even though they were not fit, and were then transferred to the suburban hospital to free the bed for other patients who needed urgent care.
Staff also have found it difficult to manage a regular patient crowd that has begun to pour the second wave of pandemic.
With opening things, hospitals expect the number of regular patients to increase significantly.
As the number of regular patients visiting the old hospital, the new South Goa District Hospital in Margao with a capacity of 560 beds for Covid-19 patients, located almost empty with only one Ward on one floor is currently being occupied by around 15 -Odd patients.
The district hospital has had less than 30 beds since July.
“Regular patients also need maintenance, but they suffer.
There are accidents, shipping, etc., and it is difficult to manage patients.
There is not enough space for everyone.
We must continue to adjust and make space, but no more space and patients are angry,” A nurse at Hospicio told TII.
OPD drugs at the old Hospicio Hospital itself saw around 200 patients every day and footsteps in the victim had also surged.
Other OPDs such as operating witnesses more than 100 people every day.
This old building is also unfriendly-disabled and does not have a waiting area that is protected for patients who are forced to stand outside.
Space constraints in Hospicio have forced the authorities to move to the new area of the new district hospital before the rainy season.
But then when the Covid case began to rise, the authorities shifted back to Hospicio when the district hospital was needed to treat Covid-19 patients.
